OPEN: stay safe, stay fit...
Update 19/11/21
Just to confirm that we are fully open 24/7/365 with access to all facilities, classes, changing rooms, showers etc.
Update 19/07/21
As mandatory Covid restrictions in England have now been lifted, full 24 hour use of our facilities are currently available.
NB: despite the lifting of these restrictions, rest assured that we are proceeding with extreme caution given the ongoing UK Covid numbers, including maintaining our very high standards of cleanliness, and keeping air extraction on full 24 hrs.
Key revisions here, combined with the 'small print' dated 14/7/20 further down:
- Fully open 24 hours
- Class booking advised to guarantee your space (for the time being, we are still limiting class sizes indicated within the booking App).
- Please bring a personal hand sanitiser bottle and use frequently.
- Please do not use personal gym towels to wipe down or drape over kit, but rather use the cleaning materials provided.
- Air extraction on full 24 hours, resulting in air changes every *12 mins
* 12 mins MK, slightly longer Swindon and Acton
Update 17/05/21
Our indoor classes have restarted, please book using the App or weblinks here as class sizes Covid limited.
Please also note:
- Open 24 hours
- No need to book to use the gym to train (however, in the event the displays in the foyers say 100% full, you will need to wait for someone to exit before entering - please understand that Covid guidelines still limit the number of members we are permitted to have within the building at any one time (100 sqft per member - live headcount here)
Update 10/04/21
We're looking forward to welcoming you back, reopening all clubs at 8am Mon 12th April 2021
There have been no membership charges during our closed period.
For annual passes, as before all lost time has been added to your expire date, please log into our Members' Area to check your adjusted expiration date.
We are planning to offer outdoor classes within a week or so of re-opening - please bear with us as we organise these on the ground once we are all back on site, and check back here for updates (under Government Covid restrictions, we're unable to offer indoor classes at this time).
Let's hope this is the beginning of the end of Covid, allowing us to remain open 24/7 from this date forward - so we can all to get back to investing in our all important fitness!
We are REALLY looking forward to seeing you again, and hope you've remained as fit and as healthy as possible during these very strange and difficult times.
Team Kiss x
Update 30/12/20
Due to Swindon moving into Tier 4 today, we're having to close Kiss Swindon tonight at 10pm.
As per all previous lock downs, there is nothing you need to do with respect to your membership, we will ensure you are not charged during the closed period - although please be aware it can take up to 5 days to stop direct debits, which is the time it takes for our direct debit partner Harlands as well as your bank to process the request, but rest assured any time paid for will be added back on reopening.
More information will be posted here as it becomes available.
Thank you for your understanding - stay well and look after yourselves, and we look forward to welcoming you back when we reopen.
Update 19/12/20, 5:30pm
Due to the government announcement within the last hour, that gyms have to close in Tier 4 areas on 20/12/20, this means we have to close Kiss Acton and Milton Keynes gyms at midnight tonight, 19/12/20.
As per all previous lock downs, there is nothing you need to do with respect to your membership, we will ensure you are not charged at those clubs for the closed period - although please be aware it can take up to 5 days to stop direct debits, which is the time it takes for our direct debit partner Harlands as well as your bank to process the request, but rest assured any time paid for will be added back on reopening.
More information will be posted here as it becomes available.
Thank you for your understanding - stay well and look after yourselves, and we look forward to welcoming you back when we reopen.
Update 27/11/20
We're looking forward to welcoming you back, reopening all clubs at 8am Wed 2nd Dec.
We can also confirm that all clubs fall into tier 2, so we shall also be restarting classes ASAP albeit with restricted numbers under government guidelines.
There have been no membership charges during our closed period, and in fact we've added a few extra free days as we won''t start re-billing until 5th Dec, so for those who paid on say 4th Nov, you won't be charged again until 4th Jan 2021, ensuring everyone skips one payment.
For annual passes, as before lost time will be added to your expire date automatically, confirmed by email.
Fortunately the current government commitment is for gyms to remain open now under every tier so we're ready and waiting 24 hours, allowing us all to get back to investing in our all important fitness!
Update 23/11/20
Further to government announcement today, we're aiming to reopen all clubs just as soon as the current lock down changes to the three tier system on 2nd December - exact opening times and details to follow in the coming days, as the details are understood (please check back here for updates).
All membership fees have been 'frozen' during the closed period, and your membership along with access will continue as normal on reopening.
Update 31/10/20
Due to the government announcement today, we're very sorry to say we're having to temporarily close our clubs at 10pm Wednesday 4th November 2020 (the indication at this stage is for 4 weeks, or circa 2nd Dec reopening, depending on announcements nearer the time).
As before we'll be suspending taking any payments during the closed period, so there is nothing further you need to do (and to avoid having to pay a joining fee when we reopen, please DO NOT cancel your membership).
Any paid for time lost due to the closure will be added back on reopening.
In the meantime, members can log into our members's area to access over 600 on demand classes (kindly let us know if you have any problems doing so)
We've been overwhelmed by your messages of support, and are very much looking forward to welcoming you back shortly - take care of yourselves!
FURTHER UPDATE 2/11/20: although the request has gone into our Direct Debit processing partner Harlands not to take any further payments in November, we've been informed today that due to incredible demand, payment may be taken for a few days longer "This is due to the time it takes for us to process your request, and the bank’s processing times" we're told.
Huge apologies in advance if this means you are charged in the next day or two, but rest assured our commitment is that everyone skips one payment (on the basis this lock down is lifted in around 30 days, adjusted if it is shorter or longer)
Please also understand that we're having to deal with a huge number of enquiries during this extraordinary time and we're doing our best to do our best! We'll love you even more if you are patient with our staff as we endeavour to answer your queries - huge thanks!
Update 8.8.20
OPEN 24 hours!
- Air extraction on full (air change every 12 mins!)
- No need to book (in the event the displays in the foyers say 100% full, you will need to wait for someone to exit before entering - please understand that Covid guidelines limit the numbers of members we are permitted to have within the building at any one time - live headcount here)
- Showers and changing rooms open, but we recommend minimum use, come changed if you can.
- Reduced class timetable and class number reduced currently, increasing over time.
- Covid Precautions for your safety detailed below.
Update 14.7.20
We’re very much looking forward to welcoming you back opening 10am Saturday 25th July 2020!
Please expect some changes at the gym for your safety below.
Kiss Reopening COVID precautions:
Key Points
- Open 24 hours (but be aware deep cleaning teams at work at night).
- Come changed if possible - showers and changing rooms open, but avoid using if you can.
- Wait for someone to exit before entering in the event the kiosk display shows 100% guideline capacity reached.
- No booking required, but class booking advised to guarantee your space (reduced timetable with capped numbers initially).
- Please bring a personal hand sanitiser bottle and use frequently.
- Please do not use personal gym towels to wipe down or drape over kit, but rather use the cleaning materials provided.
- Air extraction on full 24 hours, resulting in air changes every *12 mins!
This may change, so check here before visiting! Happy training, Stay safe
Small Print:
- Initially we plan to open 24 hours, as we feel we can deep clean in the early hours as effectively being open as closed (with few if any members training at 3am). This may change if guidelines change, kindly check here for updates.
- Showers and changing rooms will be open, but members are advised to arrive and depart in gym clothes if you can, to minimise the use of changing rooms and showers.
- There will be a display screen at the entrance PODs showing percentage to full (to guideline capacity) as government guidelines require 100 sqft per person, so in the event the display shows 100% guideline capacity reached, you will need to wait for someone to exit before entering.
- You don’t need to book to gym train, however, should we find we reach capacity often, our booking system will be switched on for peak times to save you waiting – check back here for updates.
- As usual, you should book your class to guarantee your space, although you may also attend if you have not booked, although please bear in mind our classes will have guideline capacity limits, so better to book to avoid disappointment. Please remember to cancel any booked class to free up space if you cannot attend. Initially we will have a considerably reduced timetable, which we will increase to meet demand, so please bear with us if your much loved class is not available when we initially reopen.
- Hand sanitisers provided at various points throughout the gyms, but we would ALSO ask you to bring your own personal hand sanitiser bottle and use this prior and post touching any new item of gym kit - more essential for those training between 10pm and 6am to allow cleaners to focus on deep cleaning the wider gym area, rather than continually wiping down gym equipment when the usage will be low during the night.
- Please do not use personal gyms towels to wipe down or drape over gym equipment, to reduce the chances of any virus transmission between items of gym equipment - kindly use the cleaning materials provided. If you must use a gym towel, please only use for your own sweat and store away on you, or in a bag.
- Our air extraction will be turned on full 24 hours (at MK this does a full air change every 12 mins, *taking slightly longer at Swindon and Acton)
- As usual, we would ask you to kindly spray and wipe your equipment after use.
- Music will be turned down low to avoid people having to raise voices (to possibly reduce virus transmission)
- Government advice does not at this time prescribe the wearing of face masks in gyms, so likewise this is not mandatory for our members, PTs and other staff (again in constant review) but anyone may certainly wear face masks if they choose.
- PODs will remain two way (normal) as we feel this already minimises gatherings at either side.
- One way systems will only be used where it makes compelling sense to do so, where it improves social distancing rather than confusing and contributing to the chance of people bumping into each other.
- Expect considerably ramped up cleaning regimes, already extremely high pre-COVID, with all staff and personal trainers chipping in to assist our teams of cleaners. And don’t be alarmed by the steam, reportedly killing 99.999% of Coronavirus https://www.kaercher.com/my/kaercher-steam-cleaners-against-the-coronavirus.html
- With respect to your membership fees, you have the option of re-freezing free for three months should you wish to delay your return (you will contacted before 25th July about this by Harlands our direct debit processing partner). Alternatively you can log into our MEMBERS' AREA to do this.
- Broader COVID guidelines continue to apply, to remind:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based sanitiser if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the bins provided. Immediately wash your hands again.
- If you experience symptoms (cough, high temperature and or shortness of breath) stay indoors and avoid contact with other people – do not visit the gym. Phone 111 for guidance.
- If after visiting the gym you are diagnosed with COVID-19, contact us on info@kissgyms.com so that we can tack and trace members in the gym at the same time as you.
- Maintain social distancing at all times, you will notice social distancing markings on the floors and at various points around the gym.
We’d all love our gyms to be business as usual on re-opening, but unfortunately the virus is still out there and very much active, so please be tolerant of these precautions.
We hope we strike the balance between your safety, and not imposing unnecessary rules which have little bearing on your actual safety. If you have recommendations however, please get in touch through our contact page – we’d love to hear from you.
Team Kiss x
Update 9.7.20
We are very excited to be welcoming you back soon!
Following the government announcement today, we are working towards reopening 25th July. However, we will only re-open on that date if we feel it is safe for both members and staff to do so, so kindly keep checking back for confirmation.
Many thanks, and looking forward to seeing you soon!
Update 17.6.20
Please note we have a full live streamed class schedule, simply download our App from KissMe.fit, and then claim your credits from our MEMBERS AREA along with your access code to over 600 on demand classes (including our 'Daily Dose' from our own instructors you know and love).
In the background we're working hard to make sure that it is safe for staff and members to return, and at the moment the industry is working towards 4th of July 2020, as the earliest date we can expect to be permitted to reopen.
However, we will only re-open when we feel it is safe for members and staff, and it may not be the exact date we're allowed to re-open.
Furthermore, we may not re-open all sites at once, preferring to start with one site to ensure our protocols are both safe and practical, before rolling out to all sites - please check back here for the exact plan nearer the time.
In terms of your membership fees, you will be written to ahead of time, and will have the option to immediately re-freeze should you wish to wait a little longer (through the portal our direct debit processing partners Harlands will provide).
For annual passes, lost time will be added back from the date of your first re-entry.
The reopening will follow government and public health guidance, along with support from the fitness industry trade body UKActive, to make sure that when people return to the facility to be active, they can do so in a safe environment.
So you know what to expect, there will be signs guiding members on how to act safely and responsibly, similar to the signs used in supermarkets, and equipment may be marked as ‘out of use’ or spaced further apart to comply with social distancing guidelines.
Changing rooms and showers may also be temporally unavailable, meaning that members are asked to arrive on site wearing the appropriate clothing to be active - again check back here for updates nearer the time.
Along with social distancing restrictions, there will be an increase in the cleaning of equipment and sanitisation stations, to ensure the highest possible standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
These temporary measures will change over time as and when government advice changes throughout the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
We're looking forward to welcoming you back!
Update 28.3.2020
If you received an email from us yesterday afternoon 27/3/20 that you weren't expecting, please ignore it - it was a system error!
Our direct debit processing company has been working tirelessly since the sudden government closure of gyms, and one of their test scripts (to bulk freeze memberships) triggered incorrect emails from our servers.
Rest assured you will retain the freeze option you have selected (if you have not already done so, please log into our MEMBERS AREA and select your freeze option, takes 20 seconds)
Also rest assured that if we haven't heard from you (whether problems logging in, or are unable to contact us or Harlands our payment processor due to current high call volumes) there will be no charges during the remaining closed period, and your membership will resume again as normal, no joining fee to pay.
Update 25.3.2020
We just wanted to confirm that the procedure to freeze your account is simply to log into the MEMBERS AREA and select your freeze option (takes 20 seconds).
You will receive a confirmation email instantly for your comfort.
Rest assured that if we haven't heard from you (whether problems logging in, or are unable to contact us or Harlands our payment processor due to current high call volumes) there will be no charges during the remaining closed period, and you membership will resume again as normal, no joining fee to pay.
Update 21.3.2020
CLOSED
Further to the government announcement, we are very sad to have had to close all our sites from 10am this morning 21/3/2020.
Please log in to the MEMBERS AREA and click FREEZE and there will be no further charges until we open again (takes 20 seconds).
Furthermore, any remaining membership access for the month will be added back to your membership when the gym re-opens (likewise for annual pre-paid passes)
We will be in touch to let you know when we are able to re-open and look forward to welcoming you back - your membership will resume as normal.
We all hope this blows over quickly, and are very much here to support you in the meantime, including with a range of virtual offerings (more info when logging into the Members Area).
Please take care.
Sincerely
Team Kiss x
Update 18.3.2020
UK Active Guidelines
To confirm, we will be following UKActive's lead, which is to "remain open until directed otherwise by the government"
We are also adhering UK Active's self-imposed refinements for your safety here
We've gone some steps further by considerably ramping up our cleaning regimes as described below, and have closed classes for now.
We'd also suggest you may prefer not to use changing rooms, in whichever gym you happen to visit over this period, should that be convenient.
It may give you some comfort to know that all our clubs have advanced 'fresh air systems' including our highly specified one at Milton Keynes, which is capable of changing the air in the building five times an hour (every 12 minutes).
Note to members regarding fees:
Should we have to close the gyms, you will have the option of freezing your memberships at no charge (to avoid joining fees when re-joining after cancellation) . We will also add any time lost during closure for payments recently made, so there is no need to cancel your Direct Debit.
For annual prepaid memberships, time will be added by way of an extension to match the period of any closure.
Update 17.3.2020
We’re very sorry to tell you that after much thought we have felt it best to cancel classes for the time being (from today).
We may re-open classes depending on ongoing advice.
In the meantime, the gym itself remains open.
Please check here for updates.
Update 12.3.2020
IMPORTANT - Please read:
Government Scientific Advice summary
---
What we are doing about Coronavirus ...
Kiss Gyms have always prioritised providing a safe and hygienic place for our members to enjoy, but of course we have considerably ramped up the cleaning regime in light of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) particularly with a focus on touch points (like PIN pads, door knobs etc) which are cleaned with a disinfectant spray several times per day.
In addition:
- Insuring we have extra stocks of hand wash, anti-bacterial wipes, sanitiser spray as well as providing pedal bins.
- Encouraging both members and our team members to take simple common sense steps as outlined below.
What you should do...
In addition to these measures, we feel that it would be useful to share with you the guidance from Public Health England.
In Summary, the general principles to prevent the spread of the infection (and any respiratory virus) include:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based sanitiser if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the bins provided. Immediately wash your hands again.
- Do your best to regularly disinfect frequently touched surfaces in the home (as we will be doing for you in the gym).
- If you experience symptoms, (cough, high temperature and or shortness of breath) stay indoors and avoid contact with other people. Phone 111 for guidance.
